About
ACHIEVE
In line with Switzerland’s goal of net-zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050, we aim to create robust, science-based pathways to reduce hard-to-abate emissions.

ACHIEVE connects research with real-world implementation — turning knowledge into action. Our work programme consists of interrelated work packages spanning five research themes and eleven implementation projects.
From the start, we work in an inter- and trans-disciplinary way, bringing together stakeholders from policy, industry, and civil society to ensure our results are relevant, actionable, and ready to be put into practice.

Farmers, consumers and actors along the agri-food value chain make climate-conscious decisions, supported by effective policy measures.
Biomass in Switzerland is used efficiently across sectors in a cascade framework that prioritizes sustainability and reduces import dependence.
Hard-to-abate industries implement resilient cross-sectoral roadmaps toward net-zero, supported by regulatory frameworks.
Stakeholders agree on a robust national roadmap for carbon capture, utilization, transport and storage and begin large-scale implementation, enabled by reduced technological, financial and policy barriers.
Stakeholders understand and accept the key trade-offs on the path to net zero, enabling coordinated action and informed decision-making across sectors.
ACHIEVE was kicked off on the 10th of December 2025. As the clock is ticking for climate-friendly solutions, the consortium aims to create robust, science-based pathways to reduce hard-to-abate emissions until 2031.
ACHIEVE consists of 19 work packages: five research work packages tackling the core scientific questions, eleven implementation projects that bring innovations from the lab to practice, and three cross-cutting work packages for management, integration and knowledge transfer.
